We are passionate about our ethos, believing that all children deserve fun, meaningful learning experiences and laughter.
The children have had a very exciting morning at forest school learning about fire engines. We were then lucky enough to have a visit from our local fire engine and have a look inside at the equipment that they hold. The children also got to have a go with the big hose!
We learnt about the different equipment that they carry on board, various call outs that the fire engine has, how they deal with emergencies, the importance of smoke alarms in our house and what number we need to call in an emergency!
The children loved our trip to Millers Farm shop.
As part of forest school today some of the children went pond dipping in the river Coly.

What our story of the week is based on
Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age 5 have a major impact on their future life choices. A secure, safe, and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high-quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow.
It is crucial for children to develop a life-long love of reading. Reading consists of two dimensions: language comprehension and word reading. Language comprehension (necessary for both reading and writing) starts from birth. It only develops when adults talk with children about the world around them and the books (fiction and non-fiction) they read with them, enjoy nursery rhymes, poems and songs together. Skilled word reading, taught later, involves both the speedy working out of the pronunciation of unfamiliar printed words (decoding) and the speedy recognition of familiar printed words. Writing involves transcription (spelling and handwriting) and composition (articulate ideas and structuring them in speech, before writing).
We need to work together sharing knowledge of your children’s interests and achievements.

Within our Early Years Foundation Stage, we encourage all our children to feel valued and know that their individual views count. They learn to talk about their feelings, and those of other children. We give children opportunities to develop inquiring minds, where their questions are valued.
We, as a staff team, help children to model what is right and wrong in line with their ages and stages of development. We encourage children by raising their self-esteem and thus increasing their confidence in their own abilities.
We embrace our whole community, and value the wider world, by valuing views, faiths, cultures and races. We promote diversity through the conversations we have, and by providing a sense of belonging.
